Foot Village have explored making music with only drums and their voices for nearly the past decade. Over the course of three full length albums and countless tours, they've proven that music's possibilities are limitless for those with a passion to create. This July, Foot Village return to the UK and Europe for their third time, including an appearance at the Portishead curated ATP near London.
On July 11th, Fat Cat records will release a Foot Village / Super Khoumeissa split 12". Listen to the entirety of Foot Village's side below. Reposts are celebrated & encouraged!
"wholly unhinged and chaotically great" 8/10
- Vice Magazine
"amongst all the depravity are solid senses of cultural response, DIY
ethos and massively catchy songs."
- Dazed and Confused
"The group hurls themselves so devoutly into every second that their
urgency becomes contagious."
- Pitchfork
“Of all the weird scum-hunch folk ensembles I’ve heard over the last
few years, Foot Village may be the most chaotic. Created and staffed
by members of some LA underground heavies, this is a rather masterful
effort, even when things are a little more controlled.”
- Wire
"Who would've thought that blunt drums and vocals could sound so fucking brutal? So fucking vital? But here it is. 'Anti-Magic' is more crushing, musically and emotionally, than the work of any hardcore, metal or punk band I've heard in a long long time." 8/10
- Drowned in Sound
“...percussion, played as if teasing a knot of wool into freedom; a
combination of rhythmic histrionics and cataracts of chafing abandon.
Yes, I have a feeling this “Foot Village” is going to be huge." 10/10
