Welcome another member to the Yellow Swans family, first name Draught. Born in Los Angeles, Draught has the face of a million celebrities all fighting to look the same. Yet Draught stands out among Yellow Swans releases even if not in Hollywood.
The Draught 7” was recorded by micing the room the DYS played in, instead of their typical lined-in, direct to computer fashion. The result is a much warmer sound than usualy found on a DYS release. This sound would be closed to their live performances, but then these recordings were given to friends of theirs to sing over as if they were pop songs. The A side, Alchemical Blonde, features Eva Inca Ore (of Alarmist and Gang Wizard) singing about LA’s mystical obsession with hygiene. Side B, Oh! the Czar, features Sam Mickens (of Dead Science) depicting the final days of LA before it’s complete and beautiful destruction.
D Yellow Swans have countless releases, most out of print at any given point. More notable releases include a full length album on Narnack Records, a collaborative 7” w/ John Wiese, and a 12” on Weird Forest. D Yellow Swans also run the label Collective Jyrk. They toured both Canada and America this fall with Xiu Xiu.
